A VIP travel experience can take many forms. It might be front-row seats at a concert, skipping long lines at the airport, or gaining exclusive access to a place most people never see. Sometimes, though, it isn’t about luxury at all. It’s about fulfilling a dream.
When my husband and I first met, he shared a wish: to meet the Gipsy Kings one day. I had no idea how I would make it happen, but somehow, I did. Looking back, I wonder if this moment was a glimpse into my calling. Maybe my purpose has always been to help others create unforgettable experiences. My husband was my very first VIP “client,” although neither of us knew it at the time.
The Gipsy Kings have always been his favorite band. Over the years, they’ve become mine too. Their Rumba Flamenca rhythms are more than music. They carry emotion, energy, and joy. It’s music you feel in your soul.
During one of their concerts at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, I turned to my husband and said, “Today is the day you’re going to meet the Gipsy Kings.” He smiled, hopeful but unsure. After the show, while most fans started to leave, I noticed a small group gathered near a quiet side door. A third-floor window opened, and there he was—Nicolas Reyes, the lead singer—waving to fans below.
My husband looked up and said, “I guess this is as close as I’ll ever get.”
But I wasn’t ready to give up. I noticed someone stepping out from the side entrance. Even though I tend to be shy, I walked over and asked, “Are you with the Gipsy Kings?” He replied, “Yes, I’m one of their touring managers.” I told him about my husband’s dream. “This is the one thing he has always talked about,” I said. “He doesn’t ask for much. Just this.”
The manager smiled and said, “Wait here.”
A few minutes later, he returned and waved us in.
I motioned for my husband to follow. He looked confused and asked, “Where are we going?”
I simply said, “Inside.”
He froze. Then he asked the question I will never forget:
“How did you make this happen?”
I smiled and said, “Because you wanted it.”
And just like that, we were backstage at Radio City Music Hall. In the dressing rooms with the Gipsy Kings. My husband met each band member. They sang. He joined in. It felt like a dream. That memory is etched into both of our hearts.
Since then, we’ve reconnected with the band whenever our schedules align. One night at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, we entered the venue alongside them. After the show, we were backstage again. Fans asked for autographs, and a few even mistook my husband for one of the performers. He still talks about that night. Later, we joined them on the tour bus and ended the evening at the casino. It felt like being with family.
This is what a VIP travel experience means to me.
It isn’t just about access. It’s about making someone feel seen, known, and valued through a moment they’ll never forget.
